Celebrating the Movers and Shakers of Conservation: Nature Canada’s Award Winners for 2023


A few of our award winners  have labored instantly with us, and a few with our companions, however all have confirmed themselves to be forces of nature, for nature!

Conservation Associate Award

Nature Canada is proud to acknowledge  Chicken Pleasant Peterborough and Chicken Pleasant Metropolis of Kawartha Lakes because the joint 2023 winner of the Conservation Associate Award. Their common birding workshops, hikes, and window decal retrofits have been an enormous hit locally and helped elevate consciousness about chook conservation throughout the Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes area. The profitable launch of the Blue Heron as Peterborough’s Metropolis Chicken is one other instance of their essential efforts in defending the pure property and wildlife of this space.

Volunteer of the Yr Awards

Now we have three 2023 winners on this class!

Nora Livingstone is being acknowledged for her unflagging efforts within the service of defending nature, particularly her work with Nature Canada’s  Girls for Nature  Mentorship Program as a mentor, a moderator of neighborhood apply webinars, and a member of the steering committee. She has been an incredible supply of inspiration for younger girls who need to dedicate their time and power to nature safety.

Our second winner, Carly Davenport, is being acknowledged for her tireless work on the  Chicken Protected Campus on the College of Toronto and for her monitoring of the college grounds for injured and deceased birds who’ve collided with glass home windows. As well as, because the founding father of Chicken Pleasant Selwyn and Lights out Selwyn, Carly has efficiently advocated for Selwyn City Council to help efforts in changing into the nation’s subsequent Chicken Pleasant City.

Lastly, Nature Canada is proud to acknowledge Ashoke Mohanraj, a latest graduate of the Faculty of Setting, Sources & Sustainability on the College of Waterloo, who has written  a kids’s ebook, Pollinator Man. HIs ardour and dedication to environmental justice and authorized philosophy  is an inspiration to us all. We’re very excited to see what he does sooner or later as an environmental lawyer specializing in assigning and defending the authorized rights of nature.
